Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a profound yet gentle form of hands-on therapy which supports and enhances the body’s natural capacity for self-repair and healing. Working with the whole body-mind system, CST can help restore and maintain physical, emotional and psychological health.
Craniosacral Therapy first developed as a branch of Osteopathy around 100 years ago, and has been evolving over the last 30 years as a powerful and effective modality in its own right. With its unique approach of non-invasive, light connective touch, physical manipulation is no longer required. As such it has earned a reputation as a safe and effective treatment for pregnant women, babies and children, but is equally beneficial to people of all ages and states of health.
I ‘listen’ to your body through my hands, perceiving the subtle rhythmic movement of fluids and tissues, and sense where ideal motion is restricted. I then help these areas access states of equilibrium and stillness, in order to facilitate resolution and a return to optimal health.
Clients often report a general experience of greater relaxation, vitality and well-being, and find CST to be a wonderful support in their lives. I have found CST to be very effective at resolving emotional and physical shock, anxiety and stress related issues, as well as structural misalignment, physical injuries, and recurring pain (e.g. headaches). CST can also be used to treat hormonal imbalances, low energy, conditions related to the nervous system, and is particularly useful after surgery or during major life events.*
However, CST need not only be turned to as a remedy for ill health. Many of my regular clients have found CST to facilitate a deepening of their relationship to themselves and the world around them. In this way CST can help you to move on from difficult life experiences (past or present) and can facilitate your journey of self-exploration, empowerment and fulfilment. Consequently people who come for CST regularly over an extended period of time often report that CST has significantly and remarkably improved their quality of life.
* However, I do not claim to ‘cure’ any of the above, nor do I offer guaranteed outcomes from session work. CST is not intended as primary healthcare, but rather to work alongside the relationship you have with your doctor. Please see ‘Who can benefit’ for more info.
